‘Inside and Out – Wormendectomy’ by former Out of Print editor, Mira Brunner, photocollage, 2024.
About the image, Mira says:
This image is one of many in a series of staged photographs dealing with themes of confinement, illness, artifice, and society.
They are about artifice in the sense that these scenes are artificial worlds.
They are about society in the sense that the toys and objects they use, which are sourced as readymades, are a reflection of what a society deems worth reproducing and collecting in miniature.
They are about confinement and illness because I made them at a time of not being able to leave the house due to my long covid.
This one is about things that could go wrong in paradise: a worm-endectomy in the garden of eden.
