About Dalpat Chauhan
Dalpat Chauhan is a veteran Gujarati Dalit writer who flagged off the Dalit literary movement in Gujarat in the late 1970s. He has published a number of books of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, plays, literary history and criticism. Notable among them are his novels
Malak (Homeland),1991;
Gidh (Vulture),1991 and
Bhalbhankhalun (Dawn), 2004. His collections of short stories such as
Munjharo (Buffaloed), 2002;
Dar (Fear), 2009 are critically acclaimed. He has also scripted plays like
Anaryavarta, 2000 and
Harifai (2003) that have been well received. His works are published by Radhakrishan Prakashan. He has been given more than 15 literary awards, including those from Gujarati Sahitya Parishad, Gujarati Sahitya Academy and the prestigious Narsinh Mehta Award. He can be reached at
