Ayesha Sultana was born in Jashore, Bangladesh in 1984. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Fine Art in 2007 and a Post-graduate Diploma in Art Education in 2008 from Beaconhouse National University, Lahore. Sultana has participated in solo and group exhibitions, including Seismic Movements, Dhaka Art Summit, Dhaka; Line, Beats and Shadows, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, New Delhi (2020); the 9th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT9) at QAGOMA, Brisbane; XT><LX, Bellas Artes Projects Outpost, Manila; Lahore Biennale 01, Mubarak Haveli, Lahore (2018);Planetary Planning, Dhaka Art Summit, Dhaka (2018); FIAC, Secteur Lafayette, Paris (2017); welcome to what we took from is the state, Queens Museum, New York, NY; A Space Between Things, Dhaka Art Summit, Dhaka (2016); 11th Gwangju Biennale, Gwangju (2016); 1mile² Dhaka, Shyam Bazaar, Dhaka (2015); Blue Velvet, Galleria Valentina Bonomo, Rome (2014) . Sultana was artist-in-residence at Bellas Artes Projects, Bataan (2017, 2018), IASPIS, Stockholm (2016) and the Delfina Foundation, London as the recipient of 2014 Samdani Art Award. In 2013, she undertook a curatorial training residency at Gasworks, London as an exchange programme with Britto Arts Trust, Bangladesh, of which she is a Member.
