Anju Dodiya

Anju Dodiya, born 1964, lives and works in Mumbai. Renowned for what she describes as her ‘fictional self-portraits’, her work explores the representation of the self as an investigator in the labyrinth of art and life. Her visual vocabulary carefully layers references from poetry, miniature paintings, Renaissance masters, Japanese Ukio-e prints, European cinema, and recently, Instagram.
A significant figure in Indian contemporary art, she has exhibited widely, both nationally and internationally.
